M365 Multifactor Authentication (MFA)

 

We utilize Microsoft’s built in Multifactor Authentication (MFA) tools to secure only our Microsoft accounts. Colleagues will need to download the Microsoft Authenticator App from either the App or Play store. DO NOT let users utilize SMS authentication!

Step 1: Login

  • Navigate to M365 admin portal.
  • Login with your Domain Admin credentials.

Step 2: Navigate

  • Switch into the Identity Admin Panel
  • Go to Users
  • In the search field enter the name of the user

Step 3: Reset MFA

  • Select the user to open their profile
  • Switch to the “Authentication methods” section
  • On the top ribbon select “Require re-register multifactor authentication”

Step 4: Assist User

  • **Often a user will get themselves into a sign in loop.**
  • Have the user open a new private tab on their browser
  • Navigate to office.com
    1. Select sign in on the top left corner
    2. User enters in login credentials
  • Users should be prompted to step through MFA setup.
